Frontline staff will be safer thanks to the project’s reduction of risks and response times. Abu Dhabi: The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has announced the creation of an integrated system that unifies the activities of autonomous, long-range drones powered by swarm technology under a single operational framework in order to offer real-time aerial data. In order to test and deploy coordinated drone fleets capable of quick aerial observation during emergencies and disasters, the pilot project was started in partnership with ADNOC and is funded by ASPIRE. Drones positioned at ADNOC locations will be able to launch instantaneously under the new system and provide live video to the company’s headquarters as soon as an event occurs.
Long-range autonomous drones will be sent from ADNOC’s network of drone hubs for remote emergencies or wider-area monitoring. These drones will be supplemented by smaller drones connected to the command center, resulting in a nationwide coverage capacity. Drone swarms can be quickly deployed from a mother platform in large-scale disasters to detect people in distress, scan huge areas in a matter of minutes, and assist data and communication. The project is expected to minimize risks to frontline staff and drastically cut response times.
