UAE traffic alert: Multiple accidents cause huge delays in Dubai, Sharjah during rush hour

Drivers were advised by Dubai Police to avoid bad driving habits that exacerbate traffic problems. Dubai: Multiple road traffic crashes in Dubai and Sharjah led to significant congestion during the morning rush hour on Thursday, aggravating existing heavy delays across major commuter routes. Key thoroughfares, such as the crowded Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) in both emirates, were affected by the sequence of accidents, which significantly prolonged the travel times of thousands of people between Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

Sharjah Ring Road reported an incident, while Sharjah Industrial Area 13 experienced additional delays due to another collision. However, it seemed that the biggest problems were located along sections of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road that lead to Dubai. In the meanwhile, real-time Google Maps reported multiple accidents had taken place in the Dubai. Separate events on the Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and the Ras Al Khor Road (E44), notably at the 11th Street junction. Further collisions happened on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in the vicinity of Ras Al Khor Industrial Third and Nadd Al Shiba Fourth.

Additionally, there was a reported incident on Dubai Al Ain Road in front of Nad Al Sheba 1, which resulted in traffic jams on the way to the Bukadra bridge. Police advise caution due to decreased visibility. As the Gulf’s winter season approaches, police forces across the UAE issued several cautions related to traffic safety and poor weather. In a post on X (previously Twitter), Dubai Police urged motorists against improper driving practices that can increase traffic congestion. The force advised drivers to “anticipate traffic conditions and brake smoothly to maintain control of your vehicle” and to “avoid sudden braking to stay safe on the road.”

Separately, the Abu Dhabi Police took preemptive precautions, activating speed reduction systems on numerous main inter-emirate roadways due to poor visibility from fog. Drivers were advised by the police department to “exercise caution due to reduced visibility during the fog” and to adhere to the shifting speed restrictions that are posted on electronic information boards. On sections of the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road, including as the section between Al Faya Bridge and Al Muhairi Tunnel and the Al Taf Road between Seih Al Tuwaisa and Al Saad Bridge, the default speed was temporarily lowered to 80 km/h.
