Margot Robbie has talked candidly about the close relationship she developed with Jacob Elordi during the Wuthering Heights filming. The Barbie actress discussed working with Elordi in a recent cast interview, acknowledging that she felt “lost” when he wasn’t there on set. While playing Catherine and Heathcliff in filmmaker Emerald Fennell’s upcoming production of Emily Brontë’s famous novel, the 350-year-old actress talked about how fast their bond grew.
The Oscar nominee remarked, “I’m so codependent with people I work with and I love everyone so much. I’m always that person who’s so devastated when a job is over and I never want it to end.” “I believe I also picked that up pretty quickly with Jacob.” In a manner reminiscent of Heathcliff’s vigilant presence in the narrative, Robbie also remembered how Elordi would stealthily loiter close by during the early days of filming, attentively scrutinizing her work. “I don’t know if you did this or Emerald told you to do this, but I remember the first few days on set, he would just be around where I was, like in a corner, watching Cathy,” she said.
As the cast laughed, Fennell joked, “I didn’t tell him to do that.” “In fact, I had to ask him to go.” Robbie went on, “I found myself starting to look around to see where he was” on the third day of filming. “I was really unnerved and unmoored when it turned out that Elordi wasn’t watching.” And I felt completely lost, like a child without a blanket or anything. Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment, which also produced Barbie and Saltburn in 2023, is co-producing Wuthering Heights, which stars Shazad Latif, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Charlotte Mellington, and Owen Cooper.
